SPOILERS. LOTS.
Tiana is a hardworking waitress working multiple shifts saving for her own restaurant. Prince Naveen has never had to work a day in his life, and now is forced to marry money or get a job. Tiana is dressed nice one evening by Lottie, her childhood friend, and is dressed as a princess. Naveen, who was captured by Dr. Facilier the Voodoo Man, is now a frog and hops up to Tiana and asks her for a kiss....which only turns her into a frog too! They hop off to the bayou to hide from the shadow man and meet Louis, an alligator who wants to play trumpet with the big wigs. He leads them to Momma Odie with the help of the firefly Ray, who says that when they figure out what they need, and not what they want; that's when they'll be human. She says though, the kiss of a princess will break the curse. Lottie is the Mardi Gras Princess, and they assume they have to kiss her. With Louis and Ray's help, they make it on a pontoon boat, and head to the parade. The Voodoo Man attacks and kills Ray, but Tiana crushes the talisman that was used to turn Naveen's assistant into him. Lottie kisses Naveen, but it doesn't change them. Tiana and him come to terms with it and decide that as long as they have each other, they are okay. They get married by Momma Odie in the bayou and their kiss turns them human again, as Naveen kisses a real princess. They give the reality company the payment for Tiana's restaurant, and through hard work, they get it going.

Lottie was crying, but had to 'freshen' up for Prince Naveen.
So, this movie was going to be rated lower, just because I felt like it was an overplayed story arc. Also because I've been watching tons of Hercules and Frozen, and with the amount of girl power in those, its hard to go back to a Disney movie that doesn't make the female such a strong, independent character. While I forgive Lottie for being a bubbly idiot, Tiana shouldn't be so...needy on everyone to tell her something about how she should live her life and become happy. The saving grace of this movie? The music. HOLY CRAP. I was sooooo in love with Tiana's voice and the musical jazz numbers that went on the movie. They made me look forward to the next song, and only the next song. The music was great and made me cry and dance, and want to be alive! Kidding, kidding, but damn the pipes on Tiana.
