Genre: Fantasy/Tragedy (in Italian theater sense of the word.)
Rating: 5 out of 10.
I'd like to start off this blog post with a formal apology on taking a hiatus for literally four days. With my last semester of college, auditions for a choir showcase, and the most demonic sore throat I've ever had (while trying to sound my best for auditions) is absolutely awful. Seriously, I've tried everything to get rid of this sore throat, and only scalding hot coffee, not tea, coffee...seemed to work. UGH. Anyways, here's my review of Season Two of Once Upon A Time.
Season Two begins with the curse being broken in their town. The main struggle that no one knows who their fairy tale alter ego is broken....but now they are all trapped in this town. Seems like someone didn't plan on the show getting picked up for another season and was shocked when it did. Guess they needed to come up with a new struggle...and fast. The show is then actually split up into two different conflicts. The first half of the season is fighting with Regina's mother, Cora and Snow and Emma getting trapped in the Enchanted Forest and needing to find their way back to Henry and Charming. They go on then to literally defeat her halfway through the season...only to find out that they have people from the outside world who wants them dead and to get rid of all fairy tale magic. The only consistent people that everyone hates? Regina, the evil queen, who is trying to make amends; and Captain Hook, whose not really a villain but an anti-hero. Hook is like Gambit from X-Men or Catwoman, from Batman. They do everything for their own selfish reasons. No other particular reason why, just because it furthers themselves. In all of this, we learn that everyone is pretty much the same person as they were in their story, they haven't changed as a person, except Belle/Lacey. We do finally find out whose Henry's father. Spoiler alert....its Baelfire, which is Rumple/Mr. Gold's son. The only person who knew this...August/Pinocchio.
This show is just as confusing as the family dynamics....of the show that is. |
If you are all about backstories and love happy endings, you may be a preteen girl, or grew up on Disney love stories. If either is the case, this is your go to show.
