So, someone pointed out to me, that I haven't blogged any really 'family' or 'feel good' movies. I responded with a "I don't care, it's my blog and I watch everything before I blog it...I don't feel like blogging about movies I'm not gonna watch nor really want to watch." It did get me thinking though...I rarely do blog about anything in those two genres. So, here we go. I chose the first one I saw on HBO GO, and went for it.

SPOILERS.
Claire and Hailey are the two best of best friends you can imagine. It just sucks because the summer is nearly over, Hailey's mom is making her move to Australia, and neither of them have had any luck with hunky lifeguard Raymond, whose attention is always taken away by evil queen bitch, Cecilia. Claire and Hailey wish for a miracle to save them from being torn away from each other. After a horrific storm, they see the aftermath at the pool beside Claire's house. Claire falls in, and swears she spots a blue-haired shark or something. Hailey and her go back to investigate, and find out they have a mermaid on their hands. Aquamarine, whose run away from home because she doesn't want to marry a guy her parents have set her up with. She has literally three days to find love, or she's forced to marry. If Aqua is helped, the girls get a wish. Aqua has legs during the day, and only as long as she stays completely dry. She loves Raymond, the hunky lifeguard, and tries everything in her power to get them together. The girls teach her how to act with a crush, off of magazine advice and she gets ready to go after him. Cecilia doesn't like it one bit, till she realizes that after the night of a dance, where Raymond was suppose to go with her and went with Aqua instead, that she lives in the Water Tower at night. She calls in a bogus threat that a girl is trapped, and pushes Aqua in the water when she sees her with Raymond. Raymond tells Aqua that while he doesn't love her, he does really like her and thinks they will eventually fall in love. Aqua is then surrounded by a storm while out the bay, as her father is angry, and Claire and Hailey jump in the water to save her. They tell Aqua that they love her, she's one of the closest friends they have ever made. That their wish for Hailey not to move, will be given up in lieu of Aqua coming to stay with them instead. Her father accepts it as love, and Aqua isn't forced to marry anymore. She still needs to smooth over water (see what I did there?) with pops, but Raymond sees her, and says that she is still beautiful, and he wants to see her again, even though she has a tail.

God, I can't believe I tortured myself with this movie. Not gonna lie, I sped it up in parts because I was bored as hell and thinking "How much longer will this crap last?" It is all the feel good, gushy, bs that they always want to push on girls for movies. I'm sick of this. I was a girl who NEVER liked movies like this, so why did anyone think it was a good idea to make it? Shame on you Elizabeth Allen for not directing something with more thought and cultivating better females for tomorrow. In the end though, if you do have young girls, it might not be a bad idea to let them watch. Teaches you the value of friendship and all that jazz.
