SPOILERS.
Jordan Belfort begins working on Wall Street as a stockbroker. L.F. Rothschild under the direction of Mark Hanna. While he isn't making much money, he is in process of passing the exam to become a certified broker. Hanna advises him that if he wants to succeed in the business, he is to start being free in his life; casual sex and drug use will be his friend. After he does pass his exam though, the firm goes bankrupt from Black Monday, and he's out of a job. His wife at the time Teresa (Cristin Milioti) encourages him to go into the business of selling penny stocks. They are ignored for the most part, because its not exceedingly looked into by regulators, and the broker is able to then take 50% commission off of the deals. First call of the day in, Belfort sells $4000 and earns $2000 in one phone call. While he's at a diner, he finds his neighbor Donnie Azoff asking him about his car. Donnie asks how much he makes in a year, and Jordan says that he made about $72k last month alone. Donnie says that if he can show him a paystub to say that, he'll quit his job and come work for Jordan. Jordan whips it out of his briefcase and right there and then, Donnie calls his boss and quits, starting his journey in the stockbroker market. Their business kicks off. Donnie's friends (though more apt to call them weed dealers) and some of Jordan's account partners decided to have their own firm.

These crooked brokers implement the pump and dump scheme. Jordan tries to market the company as respectable as possibly, and they name themselves Stratton Oakmont. The business rises to high acclaim, and Forbes calls Jordan "a twisted Robin Hood and the Wolf of Wall Street." The day that the article comes out, tons of young hopefuls show up to Stratton Oakmont. If someone was in college, they'd drop out and use the rest of their money to have the Stratton tailor fit them for new suits. At this point, they are basking in the glory and money and wealthy living.
Belfort on his boat, the Naomi.
The good life begins, and the lavish parties, sex, and drugs begins to consume his life. Prostitutes and Quaaludes become his crutch. He meets a charismatic, beautiful woman named Naomi, and begins a torrid affair with her, causing his wife Teresa to find out and divorce him. He makes Naomi his second wife in an overly expensive wedding and honeymoon, and soon after their daughter, Skylar is born. While it looks like life is golden for Jordan, the FBI and US Securities and Exchange Commission are starting their investigation on his firm. Meanwhile, Jordan makes a nifty 22 million after securing the the IPO account of Steve Madden Ltd. and his shoes. To hide the extremely large overabundance of cash, Jordan obtains a Swiss bank account from Jean-Jacques Saurel, an equally corrupt person. He opens it under Naomi's aunt Emma, who just wants Jordan to be safe and take care of her niece, whom she's extremely fond of. They open it under aunt Emma, due to the fact that she's British, and out of reach from the authorities.
Hot girls covered in money.
With the help of some European friends, they smuggle in the money to the Swiss bank account. Mainly, their drug dealer connection, Brad is able to get his wife and her family to smuggle everything in. Donnie ends up getting into a public fight with Brad, who is currently acting as a courier for the money. Brad is arrested, and the whole gang is almost found out. To celebrate all the money reaching the bank accounts but ease the pain of losing Brad, Donnie gives Jordan an extremely rare and powerful Quaalude to celebrate, Lemmon-714. They think the drug has lost potency over the years, so they overcompensate and take many more than a decent dosage. Jordan's PI gives him a call, saying he needs to recall him from a payphone. He jumps in the Lamborghini and drives down to the country club. As he's there, the Quaaludes finally kick in. He thinks he gets back to his house alright, then picks a fight with Donnie to get him off the phone with the Swiss bank man, Saurel. Donnie almost chokes after eating ham and Jordan takes some cocaine to his focus restored due to the Quaaludes.
Jordan's father tries to convince him to resign, but he rethinks it last minute and stays on. On a yacht in Italy, they receive news that aunt Emma passed away. Jordan forces them to take the yacht during a storm to go to Monaco and then drive up to Switzerland so they can avoid passport stamping. A storm ruins the boat, and they have to be rescued by a plane, then a boat. Jordan sobers up after this. We then have a flash-forward to two years in the future. Denham has evidence to arrest Jordan. Saurel dumped his knowledge on the FBI, while getting Jordan in trouble. Naomi is pissed at Jordan, and says she wants a divorce and to take the children. He attempts to even steal his daughter Skylar away.  Jordan is arrested in the end, and Stratton Oakmont is closed down. Jordan is seen at the end of the movie teaching salesman seminars in New Zealand.
The last hour.

So, while this movie is really really good, and the acting is believable and ridiculous, holy crap, did this movie last forever. It was 3 hours roughly and it was extraordinarily long. Oh my dear god, I was bored at parts...but the plot when Jordan wasn't high made for great story telling. I don't have much to report on the opinion side. I just thought it was long. I have a problem with paying attention something and all.
